Rip Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

Rip

RIP

How swift, how eternal final sleep catches us unaware,

One is thisproverial diamond fire, fragile,
This one moment in space,
This one mojo against all odds, sweeping storms and accouterments of life.

Icy fingerprints, the living must continue the seasons, count its deaths,
the living must remember their dead cousins, common ancestors and preserved mummies,

Remember, aeons and aeons of turmoils, dead faunas, dead floras,

destinies found, kingdoms destroyed, presidents topples and manifesto signed and disagreed, good and evil must come to its inevitable conclusion in all directions to the futile,

All of us are involved in the antagonisms of the species, disease, hunger and warfootings,

One day in this inevitable gray when too late the hero, lives or die in a skirmish,
Must you, clenched your fists in declaration,

"I'm still alive but rest in peace, "
