Devastation everywhere...God knows where it will all take us to...
Tak jenom stromy obečně? Dobře. Miluju stromy. Your poem reminds me a little of my poem, Sigi River. I’m not sure whether I ever posted it.
Is it a giant tree fern? Or a coconut palm? I like the progression - first, appreciation for the magnificent tree; then you come into the picture, but sitting awkward lying in a stump, mourning the loss and destruction, paralleling it with yourself. Then giving us a shot of the whole devastated area. And finally, back to your appreciation as a child and asking a question, perhaps also with a dual application to the scene and yourself. Very nice poem, Denis.
Odpověď na hádanku je " stromy." / As you can see, I like composite riddles, in which components of the riddle are also riddles. Since you know Czech, I'm telling you the answer in Czech (courtesy of an English-Czech translation site. The auto-spell function tried to change " stromy" to " stormy." ;)
Very beautiful reflective poem. Small things in nature remind us the history of a civilization- a civilization that seems to thrive upon destruction of natural habitat and sweat and blood of fellow humans. Rati Saxena's translation is very impressive and brings out all the deep emotions that the original poem is written with. Thank you Denis for letting me know about it.
A very nicely crafted work of art, Denis. Thanks for sharing. Peace
This was the first poem I posted on PoemHunter. I remember that your comment, made soon after my posting, made me feel welcome here, so thanks.
the natural facts revealed in this poem are so obvious. Very phenomenal, O Poet
