Last night as I lay sleeping
Someone whispered in my ear,
'Come join Me at My table
All your close friends will be here. '
'I'm inviting a big crowd
Calling all the folks I know.
My table will seat everyone
Side by side in two long rows. '
'I'm putting out fresh linen—
The cloth is purest white
With flowers at the center;
Tall, slim candles for soft light. '
'I'm using My fine china,
Crystal goblets for red wine;
I've polished all the silver,
We'll have a wonderful time.'
'I'll serve dinner at seven
Please dress your Sunday best.
I'll be happy to see you—
You're one of My special guests! '
'We'll start with a prayer of thanks
Followed by a divine toast;
Then some light conversation
And a few words from our host.'
'I'm serving seven courses.
You'll love tasting every one.
We'll have a lavish dessert
In joyful celebration.'
'I'll make all the arrangements
You can travel here tonight.
You won't be coming alone,
Have a comfortable, safe flight.'
'Plan to arrive instantly,
In the twinkling of an eye.
Your destination's heaven
'Cause it's a banquet in the sky.'
