Nice, incisive poem Shaun...that's why it's important to look at wide ranging topics. I once knew a poet during my time as a performance poet in the North East, who unfortunately suffered from anorexia nervosa. She was very gifted with words, but all her poems were invariably about herself and her problems. Poetry should help us to understand ourselves. However, I also feel it should help us to move beyond ourselves.
