Revelation Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Revelation

With time to ponder, now and then
On my life along the way -
Yes! I would live those years again
And treasure every day.

I would make some subtle changes:
Be more thoughtful and more kind;
Less vain - more understanding.
Leaving ineptitudes behind.

Just dreaming of 'Prince Charming'
Through the adolescent years
Brought nought but disillusion
And quite often, hidden tears.

An old head on young shoulders
Could have curbed such idle dreams
When crushes and infatuations
Hindered progress through my teens.

I never read my law books
Or gain an honours degree;
Nor did I study Medicine
Or read Shakespeare's poetry.

But on reflection I give God thanks
For every glorious year...
Those cherished times and happy days
Spent with my family 'dear'.
