Sometimes a 'retreat' is all it takes to gather your thoughts together. A wonderful flow of emotions in your write. TFS.

There is a good message in this poem. It speaks well to removing oneself from harmful situations that will do nothing but harm to an individual. Very well said. thanks for sharing.10/10

To this heart of mine And now I will retreat To where I am safe Away from your love, Reminds me of a Hollywood film The Atonement and the character Robie in it who died in Dunkirk for England in France.Robie died of tuberculosis in precarious war conditions with Germany winning the war there against Allied Forces retreating.Robie loved a woman from London. He had a rift. When he died, his words were somewhat like urs though in a different context. No women wants in general be together with risky professional men whose lives are at stake be it Dunkirk or Afghanistan. Some women have the courage to stay single and do something for society with posthumous self, another marriages with another man, the rest have respective self-motivations. Its better to keep away from violent and demanding men than to concubate violence into the womb for a marred future with austerity. In this context its a well penned poem.
