That is the kind of enjoyment retired people want. Really. Even my father used to do so........very good poem, so well structred and so well expressed.

Sad and poignant one Sandra, it reminds me of my granpa i loved to see the smile on his face and i tried my best to make his retired life a happy one-- I personally feel very much obliged to him---for if I am something today I owe it entirely to him lots of love anjali -10

Personally, I hope that your retired Dad enjoyed many mornings feeding the birds. It is a delightful occupation, after all. Something a bit wistful and poignant about this one.10, of course. Love, Sandra

So very insightful Sandra and I feel this poem is much deeper than I am lead to believe. I can see the humor of your Mother having to clean up, but I can also see her life style will change much more than may realize. A delightful poem and thanks for sharing. 10 Karin Anderson

At the age of 37 and already retired....I should be spending my days living it up and spending my hours bathed in the sun.....but life always has a way of pulling you away to do something else lol.......maybe I should relax a little more....but Life doesn't have the time to spare at present...maybe tomorrow who knows Sandra...I might just sit out side...weather permitting and listen to what nature blesses me with....................great piece...as always...a real pleasure 10++

Was thinking of doing exactly that, when I retire. Would also include farming. You have a great ability of observing simple things and transforming them into lovely poems educating or informing the reader. Serves as an advance warning. Good write 10+++

a sweet poem...handling an idled retired man becomes very difficult for the woman who has no retirement at all..the man gets a complex..he is not being treated as the master...specially the previous generations...he becomes a child again...a good reflection on a subject anybody can relate to......10
