Resurrection - Ανάσταση
Canary with your
sweet melodic voice
What news do you bring?
Are you a herald of doom
or is hope hiding
inside your warble?
The little yellow bird
stood silent for a while
My breath I held
waiting for something
to come out of its beak
"Chris is Risen! ", it said
and it flew away above
the silent city...
Καναρίνι με τη
γλυκιά μελωδική φωνή σου
Τι νέα φέρνεις;
Κήρυκας είσαι της καταστροφής
ή κρύβεται η ελπίδα
μέσα στο κελαήδημά σου;
Το μικρό κίτρινο πτηνό
έμεινε σιωπηλό για λίγο
Την ανάσα μου κράτησα
περιμένοντας κάτι
να βγει από το ράμφος του
«Χριστός Ανέστη! », είπε
και πέταξε πάνω
από τη σιωπηλή πόλη...
This is such a beautifully expressed poem, with the glad tidings of Easter coming from a canary. Very touching and inspirational.
The last lines convey a message of hope. Yes, the resurrection of Christ gives us the strength and power to overcome these dark times. Beautifully written.
