Restlessness Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Restlessness

The young man could not stay here,
He could not stay there,
He was restless in his dream,
For the treacherous ambition wearing the darkest veil was continuously tormenting his soul.
He should achieve the precious position,
He must get it,
Why not?
He had the ability and skill to reach the acme and get all the comforts of the world,
All these ambitious thoughts ruthlessly engrossed his mind
And he was in dire straits.
All of a sudden his glance fell on the secure ceiling of his room,
The man stared at it and realized that
He had at least a cosy shelter and sufficient food at his disposal,
Which was enough for a man to live in peace if he wished.
But the poor men whom he had seen the other day
Beside the dusty road had nothing like these,
They had to stay under the open sky with no secure shelter,
There was no guarantee of food for them too,
To tell the truth they had to starve most of the days,
Still they did not complain,
The tragic picture filled the young man with deep pathos,
He felt ashamed thinking how selfish he had been!
The man screamed in pain and agony
And prayed to the God earnestly to forgive him for his obnoxious sin.
