Responsibility Poem by John Yaws

Responsibility

It's funny, the excuses,
we use to place the blame-
For our unwise decisions
On someone elses name.

The blame-game is quite common-
Far better if we chose-
To accept the fact, that it is us
Who brought about our woes.

I won't say that it's easy-
To face the aftermath,
Of ill-conceived devices-
And the chaos on my path.

That pain bestowed on others
Likewise afflicted me.
Stupidity and selfishness-
Must be my guilty plea.

Sorrow is a given-
And likewise, so is shame.
But facts are very stubborn-
I have only me to blame.
