Even though we became independent
We were still dependant
On outside help in many fields
But the geogophical position was strongly held

We had no constitution of our own
The long yoke of slavery was known
The foreigners occupied the country for many decades
The looted the rich heritage through trade

Since the Muslims had demanded separate homeland
The country was even divided into two lands
We inherited poverty and scarce sources
The country was soon invaded by military forces

The constitution forefathers drafted now constitution
India was to become soveraign republic nation
We were inspired to draw good clauses from other countries
India soon became one of the largest democracy

India became truly non-secular state
As it had many communities to relate
The care was taken for the welfare of minorities
To build and bring them in one fold under different societies

We vowed not to attack on any country
And spread the message of peaceful entity
It was soon to follow the principle of panchsheel
And encourage all means for peace and not to kill the efforts
