Reptile Poem by Dorsey Baker

Reptile

Harmless as it seems
Lying it's tongue off
It has a big mouth
And it can still bite you
And you will surely
Feel the pain
It may be short term
It may last
For a very long time

Ears that didn't hear
Eyes that didn't see
The pain might be
So severe
You might wish that you were dead
The suffering lingering
Poison in the air
Coming from a breathing Dragon

You were fooled
And now you pay the price
Many will have to endure
Or the wall will fall
The weight of the world
That might come
Falling down upon us
Remind never to
Trust a snake!
