Remembering October 20th 2020 (Endsars)

Remember this day Nigerians
When compatriots arose
to cage the ceaseless corruption
and brutality that breaks our bones

Firm they stood with spirit unbent
to sing no selfish song
but to speak for the voiceless
and the troubles that taunt our hearts

They marched echoing the anthem
that our fathers sang in love and unity
Nigerians call obey Nigerians call obey
with enthusiasm they marched

unknown to them the dangers that lurks
in the right path to fight for their rights
the demons that comes in between
the military monsters, beast on camouflages

it was nothing but a peaceful protest
to pray and plea for justice and normality
but peace by pieces, piece by piece
they laid so many to rest in peace

May this day never be forgotten
held against every head that holds the cap
for there are some sins and deeds
considered a taboo to forget and forgive

it was a bloody Tuesday, bloody indeed
we watched our brother lie flat on floor
and our sisters wept for help, yet
their tear couldn't wash the blood off the street

They shot at us repeatedly
over and over again relentlessly
despite hearing their citizens cry aloud
and watching heroes fall on a pool of blood

on a pool of blood there they laid
as the ransome for a debt we could not pay
but we prayed, yet this demons promise chang
yet change couldn't make a change

We are in chains, o lord unshackle this souls
let freedom erase this memories of pains
this sacrificed souls can't be brought back again
but by justice and normality they shall be regained

O compatriots! rest in your earthen bed
we promise never to relent
to fight for the people's right commandments
it's either the devils repent or rot in hell

And after all murky deeds and massacre
one old head that long held the cap
uttered with an intent to mock some folly
I'm still the Jagaban

May this day never be forgotten
O sad Tuesday we remember
Nigeria leaders ordered the Nigeria army
to kill Nigerians, protesting peacefully
