I offered her my trembling heart,
A blossom pale beneath the sky,
But she, with cold and careless art,
Let it wither and pass by.
I sang for her the sweetest song,
A melody of stars and sea,
But she, unmoved, walked on too long,
She did not turn to glance at me.
The moon was kind and watched my tears,
The night was soft and full of sighs,
Yet she, untouched by all my tears,
Had love for others in her eyes.
Now silence stands between us two,
A wall of sorrow, cold and stark.
The dreams I held, I bid adieu,
She left me weeping in the dark.
