Refugee Ordeal

#Refugee Ordeal

I should have failed
to take pains
Knowing we would have
Ne'er, ne'er in person met,
And shared all that seasons
would have brought for us-
the joys of all the empyreans.

But I happily kept my fingers
crossed and sought of you
all over creation
And by the strange sidewalk of thick ghettos,
night after night,
stranded without destiny,
forgotten by sound,
whispers or songs,
To find if your voice echoed
the torment of my ravaged future.
