Rating: 4.2

There were fury, fire, bombs and bullets
Army, terrorists, death and darkness
No water, no food, only deadly dance of death
They were leaving behind their dear homes and land

You outline the continuing problems which refugees face around the world-having to live in camps, sailing by boat to countries which may not admit them, 'stony- heart', and the ever-present danger of death. Your broad- brush canvas covers it all in a compassionate tone.

The fly has no preference for flesh, in innocence it eats from all bones, yet its heart is greater than civilized society, Yes, this proud world is so misused at the expense of the downtrodden, again the poetess with wisdom writes a great poem, thank you.

So wonderful as the poet looked deep into the plight of refugees.. In fact it is much worse than we read in News and watch on Media. Reminds me of that Kosovo times and the very concentration camps I visited in Germany.. and yes also lived with refugees in their Demonstration Camps in Berlin for 3 months! Your Poem did bring tears again to me! but good, ! Thank you Poet.10+++!

This is a very poignant write on unfortunate victims of cruel circumstances created by the foolishness of their own fellow-men. Your narrative is gripping leaving the reader sad and aching. (10)

Thank you so much for reading and appreciating `my poem. This poem is very close to my heart.Refugee problem is a complex issue involving many countries and international organizations. As it involves life risk of innocent citizens, this problem should be addressed urgently from humanitarian ground.

We hear about the Plight of the Refugees on the news almost every night but this poem indicts us and awakens us on a human scale as to what it means... this poem makes us imagine ourselves forced from our homes and taking only what we can carry with us as we flee... what would we take if we have children to carry, how much food and blankets and medicines can we take? ... just the clothing on our backs? - they'd soon turn to foul smelling rags... no room for the photographs of our loved ones long dead and gone... how do we take the family dog but how can we leave it behind... how do we leave the crop in the fields behind? but we must flee to save our lives... we flee to escape war and hatred that threaten our lives and our children's lives and we must leave Father behind because we cannot carry him, he is too heavy and wants to stay behind in the only home he ever knew and we know what will happen to him if we leave him behind... but we flee to another country, hoping it will protect us, give us work to do to feed ourselves, give us shelter from the rain and sun, until we can go back home or forge a new home... all we really want is a chance to live.. it really is stunning what can happen to people whose only crime is in living. Thank you for making us think what it means to be a refugee. We won't know the real grit and pain of it unless we become refugees but just imagining it is or should be sufficient to make us act. This my dear Bharati is an excellent write, a humanitarian write, a poetic write, and a call to action. You do not write idle words.

I don't have the words, and that's very seldom. Your writing is clearly worth a 10. And I'm sorry

- - Next editorial project will be on the Japanese form of poetry 'haiku & tanka'. Since it is not so easy for non-Japanese or not learned poets writing waka poetry, also 'so called' Taoist poems will be accepted [there will be an 'Addendum/Appendix']. Think about.. OK? :)

Bharati, I am reminded of the description of a refugee camp in W. Bengal, during the 1971 Bengladesh War, in the famous Malayalam Novel GURUSAGARAM by late Shri O V Vijayan. I hope you have heard of O V Vijayan. Horrid, Heart-rending tales I fold my hands before your bare incisive poetry. Thanks.

To an unwelcome fate they march towards Covering miles and miles through rough and tough terrains This is exactly how it is for those hapless refugees! Nations should open their eyes to the deplorable plight of people ousted out of the land to which they belonged and thrown to sheer void! It is sad that man is man's deadliest enemy! You have dealt with this gnawing problem with great empathy!

What a wretched life, the refugee lives......the name refugee may be born as the person is refused everything in life....only God helps through others....to portray this reality you have thought so much and penned nice lines...10 marks...

All the countries of the world should seriously consider this humanitarian issue and lay down international laws to solve the problem.Instead of passing the burden of expenditure upon the host country who shelter the refugees, international fund should be utilized for the purpose. All the countries who are affected immediately by the refugee influx as well as the warring countries who give rise to such problem should strive to bring peace in the region .

A refugee with a future uncertain As a civilized society with its stony heart just look on. The pathetic condition of refugees has been portrayed in very realistic way and it is very touching. The total indifference of civilized society on the issue too is a reality. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking poem.10 points.

Thank you so much for your kind words.Refugee problem is a real issue the Civilized society should take care. When people are fleeing for their lives, it is unfortunate that they are treated with in most inhuman way.Army people of some countries shoot them down to stop them from entering their country. In some cases they are put in prisons and rot there.Civil societies, if they respect human lives should never allow this to happen.Thank you very much for your nice comments.
