Reflections Of The Self Poem by Ayatullah Nurjati

Reflections Of The Self

As I stand, a poet in an ocean of words,
Unspoken feelings, unheard verses surge.
What is this craft, this calling to write?
Is it light for others or my own plight?

I pen the tales of others, the struggles they bear,
Yet each word I write is a weight I wear.
To live, to serve, to break free from norm,
A poet's life—a perpetual storm.

So here I remain, a witness, a voice,
Between silence and sound, I make my choice.
To speak for the hearts hidden in night,
To craft with love, to bring forth light.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It explores the internal struggles and purpose of a poet's life. Standing amidst an ocean of unspoken emotions and untold stories, the poet questions the nature of their craft: whether it serves others or is a reflection of personal challenges. Through writing, the poet bears the weight of others' struggles while navigating their own perpetual storms. Ultimately, the poet resolves to be a voice for the unseen and unheard, using love and creativity to bring light into the world. It is a meditation on the duality of self-expression and service through art.
