Red Ink Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Red Ink

The horrible devil appeared at last,
It had threatened me earlier that
It would come on that ominous day with its evil and invisible stature,
I had cautiously marked the day in the calendar with my red ink.
Though I was frightened,
Still I was resolute to keep it away,
Slowly but surely the day came,
Throughout the day I was able to keep the invisible devil at bay
With my indomitable spirit and rapt attention,
But towards the end I became little absent minded for a moment due to weariness
And it was then the obnoxious and shrewd devil stung in my soft bosom and fled,
I cried out in extreme pain but in vain,
The devil won and I was defeated,
Ultimately all my efforts proved futile.
