Recipe For A British Summer Poem by Matthew Holloway

Recipe For A British Summer

Take two or the days blazing sun
A bitterly cold northerly wind
a pinch of afternoon rainfall
with a sprinkle of sleet and hail
blend together and repeat
over the following several weeks
add thunder and lightning
as a choice of preference
complain during entire process
regardless of current forecast
grab a barbecue where you can
and fill out the pub beer gardens
and there you have the recipe
for a great British summer
