Really Needed A New Flag Poem by Roger Gerald Hicks

Really Needed A New Flag

the old one: The corny
red and white
the blue with too many
white blobs
for the newly educated
to count-
and it's really tattered

We deserve a flag
easy to understand
like the TV pundits
who explain everything
with their simplistic
knowledge
and homespun
narrow mindedness

Chrome plate
the new flag
or make it
Monopoly green
like our money-

It should have the motto
"In rapaciousness
and greed we trust"

Make our new flag
fireproof
so no one can burn
it in protest
or maybe invisible
so it wouldn't insult-
(like justice
hard to find, too)
and appealing to gals
at Mardi Gras.

At the same time
Update the Pledge

of Allegiance which should
start out

"I am an idiot and believe
everything Congress does-
and has done-
is for the good of me
& my family -forever-
under God."
