You are making a good start choosing to be a poet because that is a good way to give people a chance to 'read' you, your feelings, your character, and everything you want them to know. I wouldn't expect an actor or a character in a book to be the real you. We expect those people to be somebody else. So keep on writing so that we can read more about the real you.
