Reach out is a remarkable poem. Holy is a recognition of the divine. Then, in life through perseverance, one can be holier, holiest. Man can reach out and stretch out to the heavens as much as he can. BUT, he can never touch the heavens until and unless the Grace is bestowed by God. A spiritual poem so well done.10++

Geeta, thank you so much. You are so right....our reach will always fall short....

I had never thought of holy as longing so I was immediately curious. I see the poem as some sort of desire for spiritual guidance when one is in dire need however in this poem heaven will not touched.....perhaps not for this soul anyway. Hmm....perhaps none of us will touch heaven for a while yet.... we may all be equal sinners here on Earth...and are not yet ready to become part and parcel of the whole...especially if we continue to have mundane desires in this physical world.

That equality in sinning...You just made me think about how that keeps us together and reinforces our sense of worth. There is so much to your interpretation....

Reading this poem, I am reminded of Robert Browning's famous lines.... Man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for! The longing to reach out to the impossible should be there in man!

at least this poem made me think a bit. :) :) i touched the top of a tree once. i was young and i was in the tree and it was much taller than i was. then the top of the tree broke off [it was an evergreen and it was a VERY windy day, AND i was leaning away from the wind, having fun]. i held onto the treetop all the way to the hard, but level, ground below. maybe that was when i got my brain jarred. (it is a true story) BUT [(except for when i visited the viewing platform of the Empire State Building; once the tallest building in the world i believe////or when i've been in an airplane above the clouds//// or driving over the Rocky Mountains////, i've never been higher////) ] i don't plan to be admitted to Heaven; i don't qualify. SO i guess that settles that! bri: :) BUT (except for when i visited the viewing platform of the Empire State Building (once the tallest building in the world i believe////or when i've been in an airplane or driving over the Rocky Mountains, i've never been higher, and i don't plan to be admitted to Heaven (i don't qualify) , SO i guess that settles that! bri: :)

Hi Bri, Thanks for reading. I hope the tree didn't cause any serious injury. Mj

Simple, thoughtful, we always strive to reach heaven, but being alive it's not possible, we have to die first to attain it's beauty and promise. Great message in so few words. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

Thank you so much, Roseann...and yes, as mortals we do not seem capable of touching the heavenly...

Beautiful expression of being. Holiness is a state of being until we reach our destination - heaven.
