Rather Be Poem by Randy McClave

Rather Be

I would rather be deaf in both of my ears
Never again to listen to songs or hear cheers,
Silence around me, is all he hears.
Those words would be spoken by everyones voice,
Not hearing you at all would be my choice.

I would rather be blinded in both of my eyes
True without vision I would agonize,
A cane and blackened glasses would be my new guise.
But, I indeed would rather be blinded,
Than ever again of your looks be reminded.

I would rather live and be left all alone
I would be the proverbial dog without its bone,
Being a single parent with a sad moan.
I would rather be a Christian with a heavy sin,
Than to be with you ever again.
