Two strong men accompanied
by three car riders
reached us with a ladder
as big as our height.
Rested that on our strong
and stout boughs in
the high noon light.
Car-borne Baboos
instructed the persons
to cut our branches
here, there, everywhere,
our green sarees were
torn mercilessly,
pot-full of tears rolled down.
Very inconsiderate people
disrobed us in a moment
including our crown
with their frown.
Innocent nestlings
with the nest-boxes
were falling down and
lost their lives before seeing
the beauty of the world.
Eggs of birds hanging
from the branches were
cracking on touching the dryland.
The crows, cuckoos, mynas, doves
started flying in pain.
Their awful pathetic cries fell
on deaf ears of those men.
Loaded truck full of
fresh flesh from our bodies,
even they planned to
come tomorrow to finish us
from the roots, to heap
on our sites,
sand and partly crushed stones
for a new highway.
O' Lord, if you are making us
trees again in our next birth,
we have no hesitation but
allow us the power to talk
and run so that at least we can
cry for help or leave
our native places to defend us
from the salacious minds
and covetous hands to get-away.
A very thoughtful and heartfelt poem. Trees provide oxygen, improve air quality, climate amelioration, conserve water and preserve soil and support wildlife. In addition, trees are beautiful and majestic
I like how you crafted this poem, Sir. A reader could feel deeply the plight of trees. These gentle and very kind creations are often abused by humanity.
It is distressing and disheartening to witness such a sight. Indeed, if the trees possessed the ability to communicate or move like humans, they would likely flee. Full ***** I invite you to read my latest few poems, they are on different topic and a bit humorous with hidden satire. Thanks

A heartfelt poem, In the name of smart city and widening of roads municipal is doing the same in every city, my city has witnessed, in past two years more than 3500 full grown trees, biting the dust.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
The benefits we derive from trees must be considered when city government undertake projects for infrastructure development. A beautiful poem. To my favorites.
