Ramarajyam 05 - Duties & Principles Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Ramarajyam 05 - Duties & Principles

Rating: 5.0

Vedas speak about duties of a King.
Protection of people his primary duty.
He should establish peace in his country,
lead the army in battles and dispense justice.

The duty of every human being
is primarily to acquire knowledge
"Uttisthata, jaagrata,
prapyavaram nibodhata".

Then there is duty as per varnashramam
and varnam is not decided by birth
but by the ability and choice of the individual
king's son may not be the next king.

Ramarajya is the foundation
of the principles of Indian governance
and of the Constitution of India,
the largest written one in the world.

Thus, democracy is part of Indian genome.

But today! ? !
