Racism Is Out Of The Closet Poem by Hebert Logerie

Racism Is Out Of The Closet

Rating: 5.0

I have had white friends
I have had black friends
I have had brown friends
I have had yellow friends
I have had European friends
I have had African friends
I have had Indian friends
I have had Asian friends
Colors, genders, beliefs, and nationalities
Never mattered to me, my good friends
Focusing on similarities
And giving helping hands
Were always more important
To me, my brothers and sisters
Racism is out of the closet
Under the current government
Under this sick administration
Unfortunately, discrimination
Injustice and bigotry are ubiquitous
A significant rise in police brutality
Has reached the apex and it's obvious
That the current leadership is very deadly
Ignorant, racist, supremacist and biased
Over two hundred and twenty thousands are deceased
This is no joke; this is no hoax. Death hurts. Unfairness hurts
Racism hurts. Selfishness hurts. Injustice hurts. Hate hurts
Racism and COVID-19 have taken over the streets and the boardrooms
The firemen should come out with the big hoses and the large brooms
To sweep up, to clean up, to wash up, to disinfect and to eradicate
These critters that are spewing hatred, violence, lies and hate
I thank God that I still have many good and intelligent friends
Who are from different climates, from hot and cold lands.

P.S. I dedicated this poem to the late Poet Maya Angelou and to you.

A wonderful expression of inclusiveness from an obviously caring gentleman who has a great gift for poetry.
