You wrote this poem about nine months ago. It seems to me to be a poem which changes direction at least once if not twice as you think your way through it. The imagery remains consistent with the theme of being a Queen in your own perception of the world, but the real world experiences shaping the poem intrude and warp the imagery, changing its direction. That account for the raw energy of the poem AND its restlessness, its refusal to settle into a single line of development. These are observations, not negative criticism. This is part of the poetic space you have made your own to explore and exploit. That's the key: you colonize poetic space and shape it to your poetic ends. (If I tried to write something like this, I'd trip over the unfamiliar terrain, fall flat on my face, pick myself up and trip again.) To my mind, you put too much into one poem's frame, I sense two poems herein which would be more effective if separated accordingly. But I may read this tomorrow and think, WOW, there's a whole world here in all its diversity and contradiction! (You're the Queen, it's your world/poem to make as you see fit.)
