This excellent poem so well describes the feelings and the setting for them. It flows and attracts, holding the reader that participates in its meaningful interior and outer scene. Expressed with beauty and grace, This poem is certainly, royally laced. Love the Queen of Heart's poetry!
This poem stuns me. I'm amazed at the journey it has taken me on. It is an memoir that presents personal experience in such a way that it becomes universal experience. The vistas it opens on the subject of L-O-V-E A-F-F-A-I-R-S is so wide that I had to remind myself the focus is one woman alone, listening to music, drinking wine, and musing. How can such a circumscribed situation expand so fully? Partly because she throws out a wide net and pulls in so many illustrative incidents. Partly because she tells the truth about herself and the guy. I don't see any prevarication, hype, self-serving drama in this poem. I find it completely convincing. Finally, partly because of the multiple roles the speaker has played: Queen of Hearts, a daydream, a romantic, the wild one, an angel, cool little fool, a dream of potential, NOT queen of sticking around. Some of these roles were imposed on her, others assumed by her, all of them are transient, except for the one which provides the inner energy for all of them - A DREAM OF POTENTIAL. That I sense is the core reality of your SELF.
