The metamorphosis of a man who has suffered grave losses is beautifully delineated in this poem. Life can change one beyond recognition. A fact told with depth n finesse. Loved this poem.
I must admit that I struggle with this. I realize that some certain level of maturity is supposed to be reached wherein we love and forgive and turn the other cheek but I also believe that if somebody crosses a line and tears apart your world no government or law written, religious or secular can stop a person from acting out of something higher. Love lost to evil. At that part no threat of damnation or reward of heaven would matter.
