A colon can give a sentence an entirely different meaning.
For example:
Sentence 1: Johnny ate the chicken's liver.
Sentence 2: Johnny ate the chicken's colon.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Thanks for the laugh! I needed that this morning. Welcome back. You have been silent for a while.
