Psyche wants Eros with her rules of love - a sonnet
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
Psyche am I who seeks thy mind and thy soul, Eros,
For knoweth I that thy beauty of body
Is like that of men's beauty in youth and after
And it hath not faded
Or hath become shrivelled and shrunk
And hath ripened with the extraneous loveliness of middle age
Thy "beauty seeks to compare" to the soul and wit of Prime Ministers past
And professors past and present
If I, in conjunction, seek the bountiful and rewarding side of yourself, Eros,
Let it be true that I shall draw from your soul
Love for my face and body that nature hath painted extraordinarily beautiful
And there shall be joyous feasting of my lips and breasts
For you are a man of longing
Who craves the taste of my lips and my naked flesh.
