Protective Arrows Poem by Lauren Coles

Protective Arrows

We may think that weapons are a bad thing but not necessarily for animals,
The animals use their weapons to attack whatever is scaring them,
They can't fight back,
Skunks lift their tails up to release a awful odor to warn their prey to back off.
Porcupines react to their prey by releasing sharp things that are called quills that look like swords,
They are sometimes hard and painful to remove from the skin,
Squids spray black ink from their tentacles that looks like paint,
People need to learn how to leave nature alone.
