Protect Our Children Poem by Randy McClave

They say they wanna protect our kids
Besides warning labels and tightening up jar lids,
Besides telling them to look before they cross the street
And always being careful when strangers they meet.
Republicans will force a 10 year old to carry her rapist's baby to term
And for that belief they stand staunchly and firm,
Then they will always add what would Jesus do
He'd stand against hate, rape, judging, greediness and lying too.
They'll let a 6 year old child carry a gun permit
And they'll allow him with a smile and a gun to kill with it,
While the NRA is paying off those greedy and evil politicians
And many pretend they are God fearing Christians.
They will allow a 12 year old to work an 8 hour turn
In a meat packing plant with no worries and not one concern,
They will also allow any child to work an 8 hour stint
With all the Republican's praise and consent.
They'll allow a grown man to marry a 14 year old child
With a Judge's approval unto which I am aghast and reviled,
The young innocent girl will be marrying a dirty old man
All because of a Republican.
They tell us that the reason they're banning drag queens shows
And why they are against beer cans showing rainbows,
And why they are for banning books and against gender affirming care
Then how they love and worry about us, they do solemnly do swear.
They want to forget slavery and remove Rosa Parks from history books
They also wanna ban the past pertaining to riots and liars and crooks,
But, one day everyone of them God will correct,
Our children, the Republican's never wanted to truly protect.
