Promised Land Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Young boy, resolute, wandered the land
Discovered lies, hatred, war, people in despair
Selfishness, global warming, love of God denied
Everywhere bleak, sorrowful, truth forbidden.
Met an old man, frail hermit, gentle spirit
Banished and living fugally in a cave
Who told him of the teachings of Jesus Christ
Of God's eternal love, Heaven with angels.
Boy set off to find the way to Heaven
Years passed and he became old, still seeking
But resolute following the hermit's directions
Ever faithful to the teachings of a crucified man.
Dying, he entered Heaven with light and happiness
Found God and was bathed in love eternal.
