Promise Kept Poem by Ray Hansell

Promise Kept

Rating: 3.0

You came to me
You took my hand
I said to you
I understand

You wiped the tear
From my eye
You said to me
There's no reason to cry

You kissed my cheek
You held me close
You said to me
I'll miss you the most

You wondered how
It came to this
You always said
You'd never miss

With those few words
You aimed your gun
You pulled the trigger
The deed was done

I slowly fell
At your feet
This ending is
So bittersweet

Not loong ago
We had a chance
To share in
One last danve

But you found out
About me
Her and I kissing
You happened to see

Year's ago
You always said
Fool around
I'll shoot you dead

You kept your promise
Because here I lay
Dead on the groundOn
On this fateful day
