was a promise to leave
your promise to take the pain
was a promise you knew you couldn't keep
your promise to care
was a promise i wanted you to keep
your promise to love
was a promise meant for someone else
your promise to be there
was a promise i still want
your promise not to hurt me
was a promise i thought you'd keep
and even though i still care
and even though it still hurts
i promise i'll get over you
and your promises...
