In rain-kissed days, we danced beneath the skies,
Our footsteps guided by the rhythm of demise.
This path unwinds, a novel terrain,
Same heart, yet adrenaline's spark reignites.
I recall the era when love shone pure and bright,
Your voice, the melody that led me through life's plight.
The first page turned, my choice, my own design,
Yet, excess breeds malaise, and I grew tired of the grind.
You believed in a world revolving around your soul,
A universe where time stood still, and love made whole.
But reality wore blinkers, deceiving your sight,
And time, the thief, stole moments, leaving only night.
You yearn to revive what's lost, yet priorities shift,
Like sand between fingers, what was never held, now drifts.
The feast that once delighted now turns to bitter gall,
The pizza's flavor, a memory that no longer enthralls.
We danced on rooftops, wild and free,
Our teenage dreams, a symphony of glee.
But time, the revealer, exposed our naive hearts,
And suppressed infancy found its voice, a brand new start.
We walked, believing we were the best,
The heroes of our own legend, forever blessed.
But time, the truth-teller, showed us otherwise,
And I kept friendships that withstood life's compromises.
Yet, when we parted ways, strangers we became,
Our souls remolded, like clay, by life's transforming flame.
I saw them searching for a hand to hold,
And offered mine, a gesture of love, in a world grown cold.
But devils crept, disguised as friends,
And selfishness, a two-faced foe, that never ends.
Give without expectation, for hope can be a curse,
And recognize that friends can suffer in silence, their hearts traversed.
My energy, once a flame, now reduced to stone,
Priorities shifted, like the winds that made me moan.
I giggled once, but now, in silence, I reside,
A heart that's learned to guard, yet still, love's embers hide.
