Your apt analogy is deeply insightful, well articulated, and powerfully crafted with conviction.

LOL, I love this poem. The birthing process of creative thought. Beautiful and very well written :) I will remember this poem often in my writing career (and hopefully someday soon my mothering career) . I was at first confused by the word foetus but I looked it up and found it's the British version of fetus.

although you make pregnancy sound SO INVITING, especially the part about nausea, i think i'll stick to my male role, even though i no longer play it [since my operation]. you have intertwined poem development and baby development so well in my mind now, that it makes me wonder if you were actually pregnant each time you wrote your 500+ poems. hmm? if so, you have my condolences. a lovely poem, more for women and romantic poets perhaps, but still i'll send it to MyPoemList and it is now #1 in my June showcase. bri :) :) :) favorite lines: “With fond fingers, as you pat your belly Your pen pats the paper The first line….. The first faint beating of the heart! Then words…. Like little harness bells tingling Fall in line, line after line! ” and “With time stretching and contracting, A baby, no, a poem is born.” AND “She must have had in mind a name Or seeks to find a name; An apt name Thus a poem with a title is born! ” …………………………… CONGRATULATIONS, MOM!

Lovely elaboration of the essence of motherhood. It seems to me like ascending the mountain with a dream only to reach the peak - no matter whatever the hurdles may be even the death........... nice in deed

Very nicely written and imaginative. Your verses flows together with much unity. When a poem is mentally conceived it is then planted and grows many roots. It is well nurtured with love and patience. A bit of pruning is much needed from time to time. There is also some labor (work) pains involved in the process. A title (name) specific to its contents is then given. Alas! a beautiful poem (maybe) is born. If ugly (smile) it belongs to you, love it anyway. A potent and thoughtful write.

The birth of a poem as expressed here certainly shows life given to the process for a poem to be born. Well written.

Yes ma'am. Every poem is made out of our mind's effort and certainly like our child! Good analogy too!

Birth of a poem is beautifully described in this new born poem. This poem makes every poet into a mother who must go through all the pains. Beautiful poem. Thank you.

wonderful poem and wonderful comments... you set familiar images for an idea known but not used in this sense... both the baby and the poem are related to pangs... in their own manners... the creation in the existence of both precedes conception... this is your craftsmanship Valsa ji...

Beautiful poem Valsa. From the conception till baby born, all the pains, uneasiness and pleasure of giving birth to a new born baby, is like our poem..As mother delighted to see the baby, so we are too delighted to see each steps of poem coming up one by one and finally making all correction a baby poem in our hands..The delight which one gives is uncountable.. Finally when name is given, so proud, happy we feel to have this baby in our hand. Each step you have described so beautifully..loved reading it..Fantastic write. Something Unique.
