this poem belongs and gives the title to my 14th collection of poems.. ''Prelude to the Night''..
There are only 24 words in this poem but it creates an impact that does not depend on elaboration or interpretation by the poet. The situation is so elemental as the individual confronts his essential aloneness in the world with night providing the eerie stillness as a backdrop for the awakened sleeper's vulneriblity. Will he dive back into the oblivion of sleep, or wrestle all night with this startling awareness? My guess is that sleep is over and deep thinking will last until daylight.
''deep thinking will last until daylight'' 'Prelude To The Night' is indeed a metaphor for ''death approaching''. It is not death, yet.. but it is close..
The sun is waiting and checking its watch....when to come hahahaha ...Ok serious comment is this...This is simple, but Simply beautiful ever :)
Obviously brief, but a chance to read between the lines. Had someone left him? M.Walker.
it is a ''prelude to.. 'eternal' night'' thanks for visiting and commenting, Michael
It is the dusk of our lifetimes. We will sleep and not wake up, nobody, not even us, will be there. Nevermore
- yep, Kelly. Yet, it would be not a ''prelude to night'', this way.. but ''deep night''.. :) thank you, pal!
The photo is a rhapsody in blue and the poem suggests absence of a loved one. Subtle and suggestive.
thanks, Michael. Btw, I've just sent you an email regarding ''poets against terror''
