A captive... In Smetana's homonymous opera 'Dalibor'.was sentenced to death and imprisoned in a tower of the Prague Castle (Daliborka) for helping some rebels. While waiting for his execution he would play his violin. and his music was so beautiful that all the people of Prague were moved and the local authorities hesitated to announce the execution. People knew that Dalibor was dead when his violin fell forever silent. A blind man... Prince John the Blind of Luxemburg, who became King of Bohemia in 1310. Despite his infirmity he spent most of his life on battlefields and died at Crécy in 1346, fighting on the French side. A prophet...
