When Jesus walked and talked with men,
They sensed His destiny,
Yet few of these looked back again
Upon His Majesty.
God's truth takes time since men take time,
To learn God's lessons well,
To find what God esteems sublime,
So they, His truths, could tell.
That's why men dream and visions see
And pause to kneel in prayer,
Beyond the sudden mystery,
For truths beyond compare.
And nowadays, when talents thrive,
Anointed artists know,
Of brand new visions that arrive
Though more years come and go.
And when one artist starts to paint
On canvas with insight,
Some critics think of this as quaint,
As if the light to fight.
But if each artist stands their ground
And paints despite such gloom,
Then that's the time when hopes surround
Each canvas in each room.
When faith abides, great love abides,
To see the painting done,
And none more clearly when grace guides
The portrait of God's Son.
The artist started first by faith,
Of that remains no doubt,
The vision's portrait thus to save,
Until it's come about.
That's how each brushstroke slowly brought
The Saviour's face to shine,
Conveying every noble thought
As if to underline.
The background first, as black as coal,
Then Jesus standing still,
With eyes that look into each soul,
All emptiness to fill.
To some, no high and mighty stare,
But knowing what we are,
And knowing that life's so unfair,
No matter, near or far.
God sent His Son to change the past,
To change the present, too,
To change the future so at last
God's wish would then come true.
A better world for families,
As never known before,
Through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace,
Then blessed, forever sure.
God's truth takes time since men take time
And few will find the way,
That's why Lord Jesus had to climb
To Calvary one day.
And there to suffer for Mankind,
Passover Lamb of Love,
No other Saviour would God find
Since Jesus proved enough.
And through Christ's death, we see our sins,
As plain as plain can be,
Although it took God's sovereign Prince
To die for you and me.
The portrait shows Christ's peace within,
Because He did His best,
Once born again, our lives begin,
As soon as we get blessed.
With Royal pardons to each heart
That loves what God has done,
Who knows that Christ fulfilled each part
As God's beloved Son!
