Of oriental splendour, out of place
Beneath the pastel of an English sky
Where soft-toned pastures etch the tranquil face

'And I have never seen a sky as blue As that which smiled upon the poppy field.' A joyful poem with soft-green imageries. 10+++

Very beautiful, Mary. Love the imagery....love the choice of words. As usual, I am left wishing that I could write even half as well.

as sweet as the poppy flower, as sweet as the chilling dreams, live like forever, live like a popping sips of sahara blended coffee in the morning. how i wish i could live my life with no pain at all.....and just like dancing in the rain.....keep on dancing and singing..........and making love till dawn. memories will live forever in the scars.and to all my buddies who had left me earlier to see god, my prayer for u guys up there.....rest in peace buddies. thanks to you mary for triggering my twilight 'pop'.

Blow Wordsworth & his daffodils: you've recreated the poppy field in the imagination so clearly that it's a lesson to the rest of us. Thank you.

This is a wonderful sonnet Mary and you bring something new to each piece. The image that you give is one of tranquility but a tranquility brought by the end of hostilities: the penultimate line certainly forces that home. What I like about this is the manner in which you have left the change in the narrative up to that line and it works beautifully.
