By Mohammad A. Yousef
In the world of illness and pain,
There exists a common refrain,
Of those who suffer with no relief,
Due to the lack of proper belief.
For the poor medication they receive,
Is often not enough to achieve,
The healing they so desperately seek,
Leaving them feeling tired and weak.
They are told to take a pill or two,
But the side effects they must endure,
Are sometimes worse than the cure,
Leaving them feeling lost and unsure.
The cost of medication is a burden,
For those who cannot afford a person,
To help them navigate the complex system,
Of insurance and doctors who dismiss them.
They are left to fend for themselves,
In a world that cares not for their health,
But only for profit and prestige,
Leaving them feeling stuck in a siege.
They turn to alternative remedies,
Hoping to find some sense of ease,
But the lack of regulation and oversight,
Leads them down a dangerous plight.
They are told to try this and that,
With no real evidence to back,
The promises and claims they make,
Leaving them feeling like a fake.
They are left to suffer in silence,
With no one to hear their defiance,
Of a system that fails to provide,
The care and compassion they need to survive.
So let us not forget those in need,
Of proper medication and heed,
The call to action to change,
The way we treat those who are estranged.
For every person deserves the right,
To live a life that is free from plight,
And to receive the care they deserve,
Without having to beg or swerve.
So let us come together as one,
To fight for those who have none,
And to ensure that medication,
Is accessible to all in our nation.
