jeezus, Herbert. get over yourself and spare the rest of us your 'endless drivel'.
Sonja, I don't know if you are saying sorry for the content of your next to last message or for double posting it. In any case, the short answer is: No And the long answer is: No. H
And you being the intiator of the polemic (perhaps poemic :)) with 'Poet's That Drivel and Snivel', you should begin proceedings, no? S.
Steady on Herbert, pet, people just trying to offer peaceful solutions here... S.
Excellent idea, Robert. I think all those who want to participate in a continuing debate on this and other subjects ought to go to that site. Feel free to start without me. And if you never see me, continue without me. Why didn't I think of that.
One other thing - I get a little queasy when Germans start referring to groups of people as being inferior. However, I disagree with Ulrike that you're being rascist. But arrogant? Most definitely, and I say that not as an insult because it takes one (me) to know one. I think arrogance is easier for people to take if you fess up to it. Takes the sting out of it anyway.
No need to have written this, Herbert, even though I like the fireworks. I think many folks, especially the younger ones, post here as a catharsis, to sort of legitimize their emotional journal entries before an anonymous audience. Of course, that makes them fair game. But in addition to them, there are a group of people who are regular submitters, think highly of their poetry (behind their self-deprecating protestations) , provide nice comments to others partly in hopes of getting nice comments in return, and most ot them, including most of the ones you listed as ones you like, are not very good poets at all, in my not-so-humble opinion. Instead of blanket statements like yours, I prefer to take people on on a case by case basis, because in most cases, even the most mediocre poets show at least a spark here and there.
Hi, I suggest that people transfer this debate to the Forum/Poetics and Poetry Discussion section.. it's more suited to that and hopefully might evolve into a competent debate about poetry criticism, instead of mud-flinging. Just my tuppence worth, S.
Hey, little woman, you don't know the meaning of the word. If someone is not German (read his biography) then he ought not to hold himself out to be one. As far as the Nazis are concerned, it might be better to keep this word off the site, especially as there is no relevance at all. And what is Germanism?
Nitkovski, the day will not come when I let vermin judge me. You can crawl back into your hole now. Incidentally, some people might not like you holding yourself out to be a German. You are no German, you would besmirch the name. But in the end, it's always the (missing) language skills that give you away. And the missing class.
Hi it depends on your concept of what poetry is or should be. I agree with Joyce that the rating scheme here, is not in any way reflective of a poem or poets worth and is a nonsense in itself as we have all noted in the past. It has been commented on by others, but perhaps there are no good poems or bad poems, only pieces of work that attempt to communicate. This isn't a professional poetry site, it's a small corner for anyone and everyone to offer their tuppenceworth of thought.I must admit to looking for meaning in the poems rather than the structure which will naturally vary with culture, educational opportunity and life experience, so is no fair gauge to evaluate work here, in an amatuer setting? What interests me, is what the author is trying to say...sometimes the meaning is more easily accessible than others, I don't necessarily agree with or like everything I read, but that shouldn't detract from the value of the work unless it's outright offensive, but then that's just my opinion.: -) all the very best L
You show NO variety in your rhyme scheme - you always use the ABAB rhyme- i guess you had learnt it once under sweat and pain when mammoths still had lived -and little to none in stanza scheme-. You do not know nor use original inventive creative imagery. Narrow minded in poetry forms- where did you learn poetry- have you learnt poetry? Michael Witkowski
The reason for the last part was that this is a personal message to someone who used to be on p/h, who insulted me in public with slanderous remarks and, as a response, I wrote several poems about the subject. i can think of few things worse than a so-called human being having no evidence of character. As to Witkowski's comments, they are of no significance to me. H
