POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I got the job because of previous experience from seasonal work. My father didn't get the job. Although he was happy for me, I had never before witnessed such a feeling of dejection coming from him. Securing this employment was a hugely bittersweet victory for me. Deep down inside, I was feeling his pain.
