Poetry Of The Body Poem by Prayag Saikia

Poetry Of The Body

When the poetry of the body grows restless
*Azamail invokes Narayana

Narayana is an extraordinary listener who
Judges not
The complicacies of fear and devotion

On the path of devotion the poetry of breath
Continues even in the ant-hill of a body

Absorbed by the breath of infinity
Azamil invokes Narayana

Narayana seems to
I ought to exist even if
Just try invoking me

For poetry's sake I can even thwart hell

*Azamil: A vicious and sinful Brahmin in the Purans who attained salvation on his death-bed by uttering the name of Narayana, the other name of Vishnu considered to be the Supreme Being.
