Although I am intellectual by nature and filter most of my experience in a cerebral way, I DO agree with you the HEART, not the head is the source and delta of poetry (using a river image) . Where as the head looks upward and ascends higher and higher, YOU'RE RIGHT the heart goes deep into primal waters like the Tao or into deep emotional commitment as in love. The great danger of being intellectual is pride, and the heart's truth is always accompanied by humility. Yes, I feel this poem is a necessary corrective for me because it alerts me to heart-truths. I'm grateful for it.

Beautiful poem Sandra. Very true said, poetry comes from heart, even if it happen to be a fiction. Loved reading it.
