Poem For Martha Byrne On Her 100th Birthday

Dear Martha next month they say you're a centenarian
I thought that the more proper word was centenniel
My friend asked if you, by chance, were vegetarian
Eating like that, I said -you'd be a perenniel

Perenniels are those flowers that come back every year
They're stubborn and feisty -but lovely, long-lived
Well, you are a flower that's come back every year
Just haven't giv'n up -always been there to give

100 years, a long time -you've outlived all the rest
They say cars go further when they're filled with premium
Life's race is a hard one, it's just for the best
For the "Cream of the Crop" -or in your case -the "Creamium"

This note is a tribute -from 'lil 'ol me
One who's known you and Tom for such a long time
His heart's full of love for you both -hopes he'll see
That reunion so happy, when you're both in your prime...
again -
