Poem For Daniel Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Poem For Daniel

Rating: 5.0

Couldn't ask for anything less
Than for your life being in such a mess
Couldn't ask for soulful duress
And the angels' divine caress

Couldn't ask for anything more
Than you never needing to score
Couldn't ask for divine intervention
In your life's most dire intersection

I'll wake up and hold your hand
And try to make you understand
Your father's dream of truly loving you
I'll shed tears of pain when you're blue

I'll wake up and let you see the sun
And give you a chance to have much fun
Maybe see your father's point of view
Before arguments become so few

I'll wake up and let you hear
The fast pulse in your father's fear
Perhaps let you both see
What's truly killing me

I'll wake up and let you taste
What's made your life a little waste
Let you and your father play it cool
Until only both can see the fool

I'll wake up and let you smell
Your own God-forsaken hell
Your home that's tumbling down
Show you a richer town

I'll wake up and let you feel
You missing out on a big deal
True love of friends and family
And a much better place to be

Thank you, Edward. I'm trying to play it cool. Daniel is my Godson. His father is my best friend. It's difficult to be the go-between. But I'm trying.
