May be out of poverty they resort to such wicked ways. But excusing it without handing them over to law will only help to encourage such crimes. Therefore they need to be warned and punished so that they would think of taking up some 'decent' means to find at least a hand to mouth existence! A common occurrence beautifully brought to light!

in hindsight, the enormity of injustice tenner picked; 45 days jailed; just.precise would it have been better to have.excused? hard life of petty criminals, doesn't amuse.......... reality of crime and justice and injustice in india.........thank you dear poet. tony
